PDF to DOCX Converter

Convert a PDF to a DOCX file online. This tool uses PDF.js to extract text from each page of your PDF and assembles the content into a Word document you can open in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, and Apple Pages. Because PDFs are presentation files rather than semantic documents, complex formatting such as tables, columns, bold text, and embedded images cannot be reconstructed automatically — the output is plain extracted text, ideal for editing or copy-pasting.

Quick answer: Upload a PDF, click Convert, and download a .docx file containing the extracted text. The output opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs, and Apple Pages. Formatting is not preserved.

  4. Download. Download the .docx file and open it in Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs.

Common use cases

  • Extract text from a PDF report to edit in Microsoft Word
  • Convert a PDF form or letter into an editable document
  • Copy PDF content into a DOCX for further formatting
  • Archive a PDF's text content in an editable format

Options explained

Page separators add a bold 'Page N' heading before each page's text, making it easy to navigate multi-page documents. Turn them off if you want a continuous flow of text without page markers.

Privacy

PDF to DOCX runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF is not uploaded to a server. The DOCX file is created locally on your device and downloaded directly. When you close the tab, all data is released from memory.

Troubleshooting

  • Scanned PDFs contain only images — text extraction will produce an empty document. Use an OCR tool first.
  • Password-protected PDFs must have the password removed before converting.
  • Complex multi-column layouts may appear reflowed into a single column.
  • Files larger than 50 MB are not accepted. Try splitting the PDF first.
  • If the output is garbled, the PDF may use a non-standard font encoding.
